How to do Room Links in Web Pages (HTML)

Some of these room link types are no longer supported by the imvu website

We have a new tutorial for finding your static room links here – How to Find the Web Address of Your Public Room

There are four types of URLs to an IMVU public room:

1.  https://rooms.imvu.com/lowdman/Lowdmans+Room
2.  imvu://room/lowdman/Lowdmans+Room
3.  https://www.imvu.com/rooms/gs-weddings-unlimited-office
4.  imvu:JoinPublicRoom?room_instance_id=18466803-239

Note: The ‘+’ and ‘-‘ you see in types 1,2 & 3 stand for spaces in the rooms name.

Type 1 is the URL to the private page for your room, by private i mean that it is only available to ppl if you post it somewhere for them to see. this page is reachable even if your public room is set to unlisted.

*To get this URL you need to copy the URL from your public rooms management page and replace the ‘imvu://room’ with ‘https://rooms.imvu.com.

Type 2 is the private URL that will load your room directly in the 3D client, it works for both listed and unlisted rooms. We have a new tutorial for finding these links here – How to Find the Web Address of Your Public Room

*This URL can be copied directly from your public rooms management page.

Type 3 is the URL to the public room page in the imvu public rooms directory, it shows who is currently in the room and is only displayed for rooms that are listed.

*You can copy this URL from your browsers address bar after selecting your public room from the public room list on the imvu website then clicking the name of your room in the top part.

Type 4 is the public URL that will load your room directly in the 3D client, it works for both listed and unlisted rooms but is not displayed anywhere if your room is unlisted.

*Get this URL by selecting your public room from the public room list on the imvu website then right click the “JOIN” link and ‘copy URL’.
*This URL will change every time you delete and re-clone the room even if you use the same room name
.

OK now the fun part…

Building the link: text or banner or both ?

“When choosing what type of link to use in an HTML document remember that type 1 & 2 URLs may get filtered and broken if your room name contains any non-standard characters (that means anything other then letters, numbers and spaces).”

“When editing these codes, only replace the capitalized letters, do not touch anything else and do not insert any extra spaces.”

Tip: Permanent room URL – If you like to change your public rooms often –
Consider thinking of a permanent name for your public room “slot” and using the exact same spelling every time you clone a room to that “slot” instead of changing the name each time you switch the room, you can specify individual room names in room descriptions and posts and the text part of your links while maintaining a permanent URL.
